Oh, Christmas Tree. Oh, Christmas Tree.

I started off my morning afternoon off with a yummy cup of Door County Candy Cane coffee mixed with Mint Chocolate Silk. I planned to brew only half a pot, but the grounds smelled SO good when I popped open the bag, that I just went for it and brewed the whole pot! Omg, it smelled even better while brewing!

Yesterday I had such high hopes of getting my sleep schedule back on track. My work schedule varies and sometimes I don’t get home until 3am or so. Obviously this can really mess up someone’s sleeping pattern. Last week I was on a series of late nights, which meant sleeping in. This week, however, I’m fortunate to not work any super late shifts. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get back to a “normal” sleeping routine. But try as I might, I just cannot seem to get to bed before 2am. The one good thing is that when I sleep, I sleep. It’s like I have this internal clock that knocks me out for approximately 8 hours, no more, no less. Buuut, that also means that no matter how productive I want to be on those post-2am days, I sometimes don’t get out of bed until 10 or so. I refuse to set an alarm unless I absolutely have to be somewhere in the morning. I think this is part of the reason I sleep so well, none of that mid-night waking up, thinking “Oh man, my alarm is going to go off in __ hours.”

At any rate, I was finally out of bed and had Fielder walked by about 11:30. I decided to shower right away in order to be ultra-productive. Rather than waste my time with breakfast at noon, I stuck with coffee and started to “fix” the soup I made yesterday. It was a success and I’ll post the recipe soon!

Sneak Peek- Christmas Tortellini Soup

I did some homework, answered some emails, did some Pinning…and then got down to business. Christmas tree decorating business!

I had all of the neccessary components:
Super cute helper dog? Check!
Bare Christmas tree with loads of decorations? Check!
Christmas music? Check!
Super cute, now impatient, helper dog begging me to pay attention to him? Check!

I got a good majority of decorating done, but need to pick up a few odds and ends to complete the look. I’m not an over-the-top decorator. I like keeping things simple. Clark Griswold would think I’m a lame-o. But quite honestly, we aren’t even home for Christmas and don’t usually have too many visitors during the holiday season since everyone is so busy, so that means I basically decorate just for us. And I’m just as capable of getting into the holiday spirit with a little bit of decorating as I am with a house full of tinsel!

I quit decorating a bit early so I would have time to take Fielder for another walk. Just a quick, brisk walk around our neighborhood, mostly inspired by the swimsuits I received in the mail today. I ordered a couple of bikini tops last week and couldn’t wait to get them. As a busty gal, I really have a problem finding bikini tops that give me the support I need. Granted, I probably shouldn’t be wearing a two-piece at all, but my loving husband has said repeatedly that I look like I’m just “trying to cover it up” when I wear a one-piece. He doesn’t often “get it” as far as girl stuff is concerned, but that was one of the sweetest things he’s ever said to me. Basically, he told me to just be who I am. And for that, I could not be more thankful.

Trying on my new tops made me super insecure about my back fat. Like my tramp stamp, I sometimes forget that it’s back there and forget to work on toning up those areas. So when I got home from work tonight I Googled “back toning exercises”. What I found was a website with workouts for new moms, but I actually loved what I found. A bunch of 10-minute routines to tone-up problem areas. I flipped on my DVR and watched last weeks episode of Parenthood (if you aren’t watching this show yet, START!) while I completed 4 of these routines.

After completing the original Back Toning Exercises, I went on to do:
Butt Toning Exercises
Abdominal Toning Exercises
and Arm Toning Exercises

I upped the reps on most of the exercises and did 20 jumping jacks between routines to get my heart rate up a bit. Obviously I know that the best way to get rid of fat in unwanted places is to do cardio and eat healthier, but I always feel like a little toning can’t hurt either, right?

Do you have a problem area? One part of your body that you just can’t get into the shape you wish it could be?
