Even though I don’t have a traditional job with traditional hours, and often times work ALL weekend, I still hate Mondays like every one else does. I’m not sure what it is about them, but they’re just always such a bummer. I often think of the song “Monday, Monday” by The Mamas and the Papas when I’m down in the Monday dumps.
Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin’ all of the time.
Today is the only day this week that I’m really dreading, mostly because I work a closing shift tonight & they always seem soooo much longer on Mondays. Since I won’t get home from work until after 2am, I’m taking it pretty easy today, just getting stuff done around the house. My friend Janene is visiting from California this coming weekend so it’s a good excuse to get our house in tip-top shape. I plan to take it room by room throughout the week since I have a fairly light work schedule this week.
I started off my day with a big yogurt bowl for some energy. Pineapple Chobani, strawberries, banana and fruit & nut granola.
As I mentioned on Thursday, I put in a ton of work hours over this past weekend. Two of my co-workers got married on Saturday, which meant that those of us who didn’t attend the festivities worked alllll weekend.
Our friends Dan & Brittany had a cookout on Saturday afternoon/evening at their absolutely gorgeous new home. I wasn’t able to join the festivities until around 8pm but had a nice time relaxing & catching up with the girls over a few mojitos.
Pardon my disheveled look here. I went to work at 7pm on Friday, got home at 4am Saturday & had to be back at noon on Saturday for another 8 hours. This picture is from after that 8 hour shift + 2 mojitos…
Sunday’s shift was actually much shorter & easier than I expected. I was working outside & it was pretty hot out so I wasn’t as busy as I thought I would be, which meant I got to leave as soon as my shift ended. Yay! I passed out on the couch for about 30 minutes after work, then made a Target trip. I’ve been reading Kelle’s blog for a few months now & I’m inspired every day by the beauty she finds in each & every moment of her life. I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to pick up her book, Bloom, but I finally did last night & couldn’t wait to climb into bed to read.
This was the absolute ideal way to end my extremely long weekend.
How was your weekend?! Please tell me you had more time for fun activities than I did! Working on the weekends is a real bummer but I am so fortunate to be able to take time off pretty much whenever I need it. I’m off all of this coming weekend so it all evens out. 🙂
