Getting Creative & Making It Work

Bridget over at Bake at 350 often does a Works for Me Wednesday post. To back up a bit, Bridget makes seriously awesome cookies and other cool stuff.

On these Works for Me posts; she further describes a technique, tries something for the first time, or answers questions her readers may have had about something she posted previously. You know, what works for her.

So today, as I was thinking of ways creatively eat the “allowed” foods on my cleansing plan, I realized that I really need to make this thing work for me.

I woke up this morning with a ton of energy. Fielder & I went for a long walk because I knew it would be super hot by the time I got home from work. I could have walked all day.

For breakfast, I mixed up a smoothie with strawberries, blueberries & canteloupe.
In my recycled Starbuck’s cup from yesterday, natch.

My lunch was DE-LI-CIOUS.

Mixed greens, strawberries, blueberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, & dried cranberries. I did use a tiny bit of a cream-based honey citrus dressing here but this salad honestly didn’t need it.

I kinda decided to nix the soup. Actually, I threw it right down the drain. It was a bit salty for my taste to start but with the forecast we have here this week, soup just doesn’t sound the least bit appealing.

I decided to cut up the veggies I had purchased for round two of the soup & eat them raw. I also bought some Sabra Luscious Lemon Hummus. On the list of foods I’m supposed to eat? No. Made of vegetables & not filled with crap? Yes. It will help me eat the carrots & celery that were supposed to go in the soup.

For dinner tonight I threw together the leftover veggies from last night into a skillet with my favorite sauce.

I love this stuff. Full of veggies & not much else.

This dinner definitely works for me.

Unsweetened juices are “approved” so I bought some super yummy no sugar added juice today. I don’t plan to drink it by the bottle-full or anything but it is a nice alternative to water.

Again, I’m making it work for me. I’m feeling great, and making substitutions that make this thing tolerable.

You know what was almost intolerable? Riding to Dairy Queen with my husband & dog and then watching both of them enjoy their ice cream. But I didn’t have a bite. Not one single lick of the creamy, icy stuff.

It felt pretty good to resist. I’m looking forward to having an ice cream treat at some point over these next few hot days, but I know it will be so much more rewarding if I resist for awhile.

Resisting temptation is really working for me right now.

  1. Great job on incorporating all the ingredients for your cleanse in a unique way! The veggies and pasta sauce look delicious. I might have to throw that together one night this coming week!
