I have no idea how a year goes by so quickly. It seems like just days ago I was finishing up all of our wedding details & waiting impatiently to marry my best friend. We’ve been through so much over the past year, yet I feel like there’s no way a year could have passed already. I’m just going to chalk it all up to the old adage that time flies when you’re having fun…as a newlywed. 🙂
In honor of our first year of marriage, I thought I’d share with you
a crap ton of some photos of our big day.
It could not have been more perfect. We were surrounded by so many people we love & I wouldn’t change a thing except to make it last longer. You plan & plan for so long & then just like that, the day is over.
There are a lot of photos here. You’ve been warned.
We started with hair & makeup, of course.
Lucky for me & my girls, my mom is a salon owner so we had a team of experts come right to us at the lodge where the wedding took place.
The boys were
drinking beer getting ready elsewhere & they were up for pictures first.
To be fair, the girls may have had a pre-wedding drink…
or two, as well.
Momma helps me into my dress.
I had trouble finding the perfect dress for me. I’m not a frilly girl. I’m not into the princess looks. The dress I chose was a bridesmaids dress. I tried it on in red, fell in love, took a chance & ordered it in ivory. With the help of an incredible seamstress that just so happens to live a few feet from my parents, we transformed that dress into the perfect dress, one-of-a-kind, and just for me.
And my grandmother’s brooch.
Shoes for the ceremony.
And dancing shoes for later.
Waiting with my girls.
It’s go time! Daddy & I both fighting back tears.
Our wedding was spiritual, but non-demoninational. Outdoors, and short & sweet.
We had troubles with our Unity Candle, which meant laughs between the two of us.
My BFF/maid of honor sang “To Make You Feel My Love”, the Adele version.
After the ceremony, the girls took silly pictures.
While the boys were bored & drank more beer.
But they certainly looked good while doing so.
And even more photos…
my arm looks so goofy in these. and that wind!
Eventually, we made it indoors for the reception.
Spider mums, purple carnations & green balls made our centerpieces.
Cake for the head table. My parents celebrated 30 years of marriage exactly 2 months before our wedding day. We used the cake knife from their wedding day.
Cupcakes for all!
Guests had their choice of flavors.
Lottery ticket favors.
Mason jars served as storage for bridesmaid’s bouquets, which doubled as head table decoration.
We danced the night away.
People were having so much fun on the dance floor & inundating our DJ with requests, that we didn’t even get to the garter or bouquet toss!
It was a perfect day.
The day that I married my best friend.
