One of my very favorite things about having a blog is looking back on the past weeks/months/years as a reminder of what I’ve been up to. Obviously I don’t forget, but let’s be honest, sometimes it’s easy to get so caught up in what’s going on now, that you kind of need a reminder of all the fun things you’ve done recently.
In honor of the last day of 2012, I’d thought I’d recap a few highlights of 2012. Twelve highlights, to be exact.
January– Honeymoon to Playa del Carmen, MX
Traveling to Playa del Carmen is nothing new, but it is a highlight every year, and this year’s trip was extra special since it was technically our honeymoon. I never really finished my vacation recap, maybe I’ll do that in the weeks leading up to our next trip!
April– I made White Chocolate Truffle Cupcakes, which have brought so very many of you here to my blog.
“white chocolate truffle cupcakes” is holding a solid third place in All Time Search Terms here. It’s neck and neck with “autumn sangria”, but doesn’t hold a candle to “magic mike”.
May– My mom and I road tripped to Northeastern Pennsylvania to visit my dad, who was working on a project there for a few months. I also never completed (or even started) my promised recap of this trip. Fail.
We went to Hershey.
And took in some beautiful sights.
July– July was hot. Really hot. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary by
sweating through enjoying a nice dinner at our rehearsal dinner venue.
In all honesty, there was a nice breeze where we dined so it wasn’t too uncomfortable. The food, the company and the view did not suck.
August– Things got pretty crazy in August. I started in a new role at work, which demands much more of my time than my previous position. It also comes with plenty of perks, benefits and bonuses so I’m not complaining. But August was all about trying to balance existing commitments with my new workload. Perhaps my favorite of those existing commitments was baking for a rehearsal dinner. My first real cupcake gig!
Okay, not really my first, as I had a few others prior to this one, but this was the first one that involved someone seeking me out to provide the goodies for such a special event.
I also committed to doing chocolate covered strawberries for the event, despite never having made them before in my life. Beginner’s luck.
September– I guess September was a bit boring. Or I was too busy not being bored to find time to blog about it. Crisp Autumn Sangria was a huge hit on the blog though!
October– I ran a 5k! Okay, walk-jogged probably more accurately describes my participation in Color Me Rad, but it was super fun regardless!
December– Yet one more ridiculously busy month. It’s become tradition for us to go cut down our Christmas tree at some point during my birthday weekend over the past few years. It’s always such a fun day and this year’s trip to the tree farm was no exception.
2012 has really been a pretty great year. My wish for 2013 is to be less busy, spend more time with family & friends, and soak up more of the good in each day. I wish the same for you.
Happy New Year!
